The Scottish author behind Trainspotting and Filth is to pen the followup to Harmony Korine's successful drama about a debauched teen getaway
Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh will write the screenplay for a sequel to Harmony Korine's controversial tale of youthful rebellion, Spring Breakers, reports Screen.
Spring Breakers: The Second Coming, does not have Korine on board. Instead Sweden's Jonus Akerlund, director of 2002 thriller Spun, will take charge of the cameras. The new film will feature a mix of old and new cast members, according to producer Vincent Maraval of Paris based production company Wild Bunch, which is overseeing the project. "It's not a direct sequel although there are allusions to some of the characters in the original," he told Screen.
